paint on the switch panel?? 69 RR - 12/27/13 06:56 AM

I am getting ready to paint my switch panel on my 69 RR and will spray the black on but what is the neatest, cleanest way to paint the lettering and surrounds white again???? I have seen them done with a brush and they usually leave brush strokes or get it on the edges.
I was thinking a sponge, maybe some type of a roller or ??? to get the best looking job.
Thanks for any Help on this.
Dash is painted and I need to get it put back together soon.

A brush is OK, but you use the side of it as opposed to the point, and don't load the bristles with paint. Can also be done with an object like the eraser of a pencil (tamping the paint on). Main thing is to not have any "spider webs" or too much/too thin paint.

A paint pen hands down is the easiest, cleanest way to paint the letters. I just did mine about two years ago and it is very easy compared to a brush or anything else I've tried to use in the past. I got mine at a local craft type store. You break the seal on the pen and depress the tip and paint starts to flow. It was very easy to get the paint to flow to where it did not leave any marks. You still have to be a little careful but it is 10 times easier than using a brush.

Pencil eraser works decent. Then I got a set of these from Michaels and they worked perfectly. Just barely put any white paint on it and dab it a few times until its as bright white as you want it.

David I went to a good hobby/craft store and bought some really good, fine paint brushes and Testor model paint and took my time. An Exacto knife or push-pin to clean up any mistakes and for me a magnifing glass , no coffee or Red Bull and you can do it, I know you can

Another vote for the pencil eraser. I used a new pencil with a perfect eraser. Spread a little Testors model paint on cardboard, and lightly daubed the eraser in it, then wiped the excess until there was just a faint film of paint on the eraser, then started daubing my letters.

It's a no-brainer, very cheap and easy, and the results are fantastic.

The paint pen works great for plastic pieces with well defined and sharp edges. I tried it on my Dart gauge faces that have a rounded stamping and the paint ran off the edge.

You can go over the letters multiple times if you need to. So don't load the paint on all at once.

Thanks For All the GOOD Ideas Guys.
I found a spare switch panel that I blasted up also and will practice on that one first. I have all the items that was suggested so it should be easy enough.

Also Mike I too have to use my glasses for this job. It is terrible getting old. Ha Ha

Thanks Again, David
