Why so few codes on '69 Lynch Road fender tags?

So there's plenty of room for people to have added options stamped on them and still be able to claim it's the original tag.
As you see, I don't know either but have wondered the same.

Here's my guess: to me it seems the only codes that are on the METAL Lynch Road fender tags are codes needed by Body-In-White (BIW) and the paint department or in other words only the codes that if they were on a PAPER broadcast sheet could possibly be burned from the welding and spot welding or covered with paint and couldn't be read during the assembly process.
What codes are on a Lynch Road (LR) fender tag that are not needed during BIW and paint?

The way understand it, each dept gets a copy of the BS, so if the body shop BS was burnt or painted, the other depts have one.
Usually the sheets left in the cars were the ones from the interior dept, most others were thrown away.

But if it burned up right at the first weld how would the kept track of what it is or what it gets before it even moved in the gate?

When you compare what was and wasn't coded, you have to ask why was LR different than other plants. Why was it OK for some plants to codes those items you covered earlier but not LR? One would think your concerns about the welding were ignored at other plants.
The picture you posted and the items it contains are pretty much the same info you find at other plants. The major exception is the top row of gate/base/sequence. Other than that, you'll find the same codes on other tags PLUS additional sales codes.
Would P31 be related to BIW? That code does show up on 69 LR tags.

What would they need to do in BIW to the door to install P31-power windows?

Got me. Of all the codes that do show up, that one is perplexing. I think it's pretty odd considering the ones that would affect BIW they didn't code. (radio, Tach, fender turn signals, etc, etc,)

P31 power windows requires a large hole in the door pillar for the wiring, door also needs a hole, holes are punched not drilled
Same reason tach, a/c or air grabber is on tag, they all need special holes before paint

Dave do you have any photos of the larger door holes for power windows?
