V02 cuda - 08/06/13 05:14 AM

Has anyone ever seen a 70 6bbl cuda with the v02 painted roof option? I have seen 318 cars, 383 cars, and Hemi cars with that option, but I have not seen another tutone 70 V code car. I have seen a 71 6bbl with that option. Mine in an LA built car that is FC7 with a white painted roof, white gut four speed and shaker. The car was bought new in Helena Montana and moved to Washington around 1980. I have owned it for 17 yrs. Just trying to spawn conversation on what I find to be a rare and unique optiion

I don't believe I have ever seen a 70 6 bbl V02 car. Its an L.A. car... When was it built? What other options?

Re: V02 cuda - 08/06/13 05:38 AM

I have seen one EXACTLY like yours - so far.

It was in your garage at the time.

I have also heard of one other BS23V0 V02 car (so far), it is from Hamtramck, red with a black painted top & black leather interior.

Does anyone know of any others?

Re: V02 cuda - 08/06/13 09:44 AM

I am at work, but I will try to post a picture of the tag tomorrow. I am a bit embarassed because that car is sitting in the same spot in my garage that it was when I bought it 17 yrs ago. Life happens... At least it is dry and protected. Mileage is at 49,000, which I believe to be original. I'm coming out from hiding because I am trying to get motivated to finish it before I die. I would like to meet some people to coneect with and become as inspired as I was in my younger years. thanks for the response, and as always, it is nice to see you kickin around Barry! Thanks for remembering me brother! If you ever make it out west...

some shots for cars in barns. Not as bad as it looks. They are all just empty boxes, you see, aside from collecting mopars, I have a fetish for boxes

here you can see the white paint under the purple, that the former owner sprayed over it. He said he got sick of looking at the white

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 01:47 AM

This car has an interesting, if somewhat sordid history. Remember the b5 blue 71 hemicuda convertible four speed with blue gut that was auctioned from a bust seizure in 96? Well this is the car that started his love affair with mopars. It started with this car and culminated with the blue on blue hemi convert. When he got busted he had taken the mint front end off of my car to put on a purple hemi cuda that he also had, and then being somewhat apart, a few pieces were taken to put on other cars for the auction. I did get the original shaker bubble and base and a different original 70 hood w/o the crumples, the original bumper and road lamps, and the numbers trans. The car came with the "numbers matching" block, but I know that it has been restamped because I know the guy that brought it here from montana around 79, He told me that the original block was windowed in the early 70's and sitting out behind the barn a the scrap pile back in Helena. Most everything else is original though.

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 02:06 AM

I do love this car, it is just that alot has happened in my life and it has taken a back seat. I am a life long mopar guy. My dad ordered my mom a 70 roadrunner for her birthday (May 3rd) and my mom picked FM3moulin rouge, air grabber, dust trail, black reflective rear stripe, no hood stripe, hood pins, 14 inch rallyes, light group, buckets and console, 323 sure grip, with no power robbing accessories, and a 383(my dad wanted a hemi or a 440/6 but the family friend insurance agent said and I quote "The boss says if that thing has a Hee-my we wont insure it, and my mom balked at the 6bbl cuz it only had a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty.). The 383 was no slouch. my dad did nothing but put headers and a dual point mallory and ran 13.99 at 100mph at the arlington drag strip . I was there with my mom when the car came in to the dealer on the hauler, and we put 150 miles on it the first day. The rest is history

That is my wifes 67 ss350 four speed with 4.11 gears, tilt wheel, fold down rear seat and deluxe gold interior, #'s match. We have owned it for 25 years. Itsa mixed marriage. I am a Plymouth man in a Chevy world. Trust me I am moparat heart(but i like any nice car). I have a black T/A challenger, an fj5 70 road runner, and an ev2 twister duster survivor!

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 02:13 AM

Wow John! Let me connect some dots and you tell me if I am probably right. I went to the James B Murphy auction of the hemicuda vert. Very interesting.

Around the same time, at the Graham show, Tacoma chapter of Mopars Unlimited, a couple guys trailered in an FC7 R code 70 hardtop cuda with I think a black vinyl top. They had a joking sign in the window "for sale or part". Car stayed on the trailer, it was just parked at the swap meet area.

Could this be car your front end went to?

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 02:39 AM

Good friend bought the 70 cuda from the auction and it had no vinyl top all FC7, and that was a fun day at Graham show. I ended up with Don's 68 fiberglass cuda and rumor had it that it started life as a original hemi. Man that guy spent his money like it was growing on trees ha ha. Went up to don's to get some missing parts for 70 with my buddy and made an interesting afternoon to say the least.

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 02:39 AM

If it was an auto that was probably the one. It ended up in Portland. Some kid got it. Then it sat on the side of the street with a flat tire, and the kid sold it for 35,000 I believe!

Um, my reference to the auction was of the blue 71 vert. Went for $405,000 IIRC. The purple car at Graham just sat on a trailer. Two (three?) guys in there late 30's early 40's had it. It sort of seemed the "car show" scene wasn't their normal gig.......

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 02:59 AM

Those guys are outta my league. I ate top ramen to pay for my cars in the early days. I was rich on passion and poor on money. I am glad I got 'em when I did!

Re: V02 cuda - 08/07/13 06:13 AM

I was talking about the first Murphy auction where half a dozen e-bodies and much more were sold. Seized from the same person that owned the 71 hemi cuda rag top, as the feds were still looking for it at the time. My friend picked up that 70 hemi cuda and yes it was the auto for less than 12k that day. Wasn't looking to buy but was first car auctioned and no one was bidding. The good old days. The reason he put (parting out)on it at the Graham show was because he was tired of dealing with a bunch of bone heads that he didn't want to waste time with and it worked as they left.
