70-72 Challenger trunk pictures needed, vent tube.. - 06/24/13 04:36 AM

I bought a 72 340 Challenger a few years ago with a new trunk pan, extensions, 1/4's etc and the previous owner/builder hadn't got to the point of cutting any holes in for the fuel filler and vent tube. I think I have that figured but am wondering how they were finished on the bottom side of the car? Were there plates under the filler and vent or were they left kind of out in the open? My car has the vent pipe in the pass side trunk extension with lines going to the tank underneath. In the boxes of parts I got with the car I see no plates or anything for the underside of this, or the fuel filler but that seems kind of unfinished looking to me?

Have a new rubber pan to filler tube seal and looks like a foam type gasket on the bottom of the vent. Anything else?

Thanks,
Chad

I just checked mine. there is a plate that bolts to the back side of the rear wheel tub, and has a tab that tucks in on the unibody rail where the vent lines come through. The plate is pretty much flat except where it rolls around to attach to the wheel tub. Hope this helps.
