A12 Guys Might Enjoy This One - 11/18/12 05:09 AM

This is me in my old A12 Super Bee back around 1986. I had just finished restoring it minus a few details (hood letters, wrong hub caps, etc.) and was doing a little "traction test" in the parking lot of the local Morman Church on Piner Road in Santa Rosa California (which was right down the street from my home).

Yes I screwed up the hood letters but hey, it was my first restoration and I learned a lot doing this one!

No, details are far from "OE" correct, but back then I don't even think the term had been invented yet

Scott Great pics!! I really love to see the vintage stuff.
I bought my first Bee in 86. R4 coupe sixpack 4spd. I only have one pic. of it. Sold it in 87. Bought the V2 Bee that I have now in 93. This is from the 1st show that I took it too.

Looked pretty good for back in the day.
I have to ask, is the car on the A12 Registry or do you still have the VIN#?

Re: A12 Guys Might Enjoy This One - 11/18/12 09:58 PM

I can't find the VIN at the moment but I did give it to Galen way back when and I'm pretty sure I submitted the info to the A12 registry at one point. Does Maple Leaf Mopars have an A12 registry? Seems like the site I was on when I offered the VIN.

It was a pretty oddball car due to it's extensive (for an A12 car) option list. From pics and memory it was a Hard Top, had PS,PB,AM/8track, Rear Defog, Bumper Gaurds, Vynal Roof, Tach, Buckets, Buddy Seat, Column Auto, Wood Grain Steering Wheel, etc. It was restored to original with no options changed or added. Other than side scoops, 6 Way Seat, and Power Windows, I don't think there was anything else it could have gotten.

I sold it to Bill Jurovich in Hollister CA, he sold it shortly after and I lost track of it after that (around 1988 or so). I recently asked Galen where it was and he said that all his records show is that it was "Totalled" and last lived in Conneticut.

Was it a black interior or silver??
I assume it was black with the sun making it look silver.
By the way Good Job on the Resto and Nice car Scott.

Founds some more old pics, anyone recognize this car? I think it was one that was for sale in Pensylania back in the early 90's, a 4 speed car if I remember correctly. Sorry, no VIN.

Most restorers center the tail stripe to the side marker light but most originals are off-set to the front of the car and not centered

This is the original stripe on the 5600 mile A12 Super Bee:

Found another pic. This was taken the day I sold it to Bill Jurovich (his yard in the pic). Actually I traded it for a 66 Hemi Satellite project, a rolling body that needed it all and a complete 68/69 vintage Hemi engine and trans to go with it. It was a fair deal at the time, A12's were going about 10K then. The car with the Road Wheels is another A12 car that he had at the time he bought mine, it was a Butterscotch 4 speed car, also a fresh looking restoration. I believe he sold both of them fairly soon after that.
