Carburator Exchange in El Monte, CA - 07/24/12 01:51 PM

Has anyone used the Carburator Exchange to rebuild/restore their AVS? They claim to do a total restoration for $200 for my 4327s if I send it to them. If not, who do you recommend?

I am looking for someone to do my stock 67 Carter 4 barrel 4327s for my 440 and have it done right to run and look great. Who is the best out there?

Two words - Scott Smith. He's contributed a lot to this forum page and you'll be getting a correctly restored piece that bolts on with no break-in hassles.

I see no claim of replating linkages and hardware. IMHO, not a good deal for $200.

There's a Mopar guy around here that does them for around $135 without plating, just fine cleaning that will not remove any original plating left. Looks fine and works great, just not fresh plating (which of course looks great)

Had them do my TQ for my 76 D100 440 and had nothing but problems. Wrong and different size jets and rods from side to side, one float was bad.

That is a nice piece. Ok, thanks! Now as far as hooking up the choke, I was told I could fake the exhaust manifold hookup and run it to the tube to the intake for better function. Has anyone done that??

If your looking for a somebody that is very good and is very cheep....this is the guy for you. his turn around time is about a week.

Bob Harris 620 W. 10th St. Corona CA 91720 951-734-1174

I gave him my carb and I had it back 5 days later. I put it on my rebuilt 340 and she ran perfect the first time out!!

I'll give another thumbs up to Bob. He did a spread bore Holley for my 383 over 10 years and it's still running like a Swiss clock. He even scored me an NOS base plate since mine had some warpage for next to nothing.

I don't want to take anything away from Scott.....They do very nice restoration over there. Bob offers something a little different. He makes a very nice carb on a budget and that is hard to do today. If I was doing a '71 Hemi Cuda and money was no object...Scot would get the call. But on my little 1969 340 Dart.....Bob got the call and hit a Home Run!!
