71 E body Steering column fit in a 70 Cuda? - 07/17/12 02:46 AM

Physically I think a 71 E body steering column will work in a 70 Cuda. The 71 Steering column has the wiring harness in it, is it the same wiring harness as the 70 or do I have to switch it out? The is a reason I have to use the 71 and not the original 70. It has to do with the lockout linkage and the exhaust pipes. The pipes where put in before the linkage and now there is not enough clearance to put the linkage in.

Why bother changing out columns just because of the lock out linkage interference,.....I eliminated the lock out linkage on some of my cars, you just need to fabricate something to hold the arm on the column base in the "fixed" position so that you can properly operate the ignition key....

That is certainly a possibility and one worth seriously considering. How about the wiring harness between a 70 and 71 cuda steering column? The car this is going in has the gran interior with the overhead console.
