Stone shield 68 b body - 06/27/12 02:05 PM

I scored a stone shield and am asking what color should it be from factory? Also what is the proper hardware to use to install? Thanks in advance for the help!

accurate for 69 for sure and I think 68 is the same

shield is black... hardware is -- 1/4-20 x 5/8", 7/16" Hex, 1/2" Conical bolts with H head marking (similar to AMK part #B-12760 ...except AMK only has anchor head marking not teh correct H) -- 1/4-20 CONS nuts/washer (similar to AMK part B-11480).... hardware is all phosphate

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't think I have ever seen a "stone shield".

Anybody have a photo of one?

Thanks

It's the sheet metal piece that goes between the front bumper and the bottom radiator support to keep debris (stones, rocks, etc.) from damaging the radiator...I'll look for a photo

O.K

Now I understand. I thought it was some type of additional sheet metal piece that affixed somwhere to the outside of the front of the car.

Thanks for the education on correct terminology.

More commonly called a gravel guard behind the ft bumper to protect the radiator.

as far as fasteners, I agree with the bolt, not 100% sure about the nut being dark phosphate though.

I remember seeing a picture of a low mileage car the captive washer nuts were yellow zinc

CONS nut may not be phosphate, but the dodge fasteners manual lists it as such......

anyone else recall seeing a survivor???

I have a couple of photos of the bolts on the '69 Hemi road runner and the '69 383 (A/C) Super Bee survivors but not here....and my '69 GTX should have the original fasteners too so it's photo time later

Kevin,
Said guide also states the voltage regulator bolts were phosphate.
And i'm not knocking that manual.
I have them and do refer to them from time to time,

But

Use it for exactly what is was intended to be ----- a guide
