The size of the picture is too big. Moparts only allow you to attach files that are a certain maximum size. I can remember the exact size off hand. Something around 300KB?

Re: Challenger T/A - 02/12/12 06:54 PM

Lets try photos with a smaller size.

This is a photo of the car taken a year and a half ago. This was the start of the disassembly. Hemi orange, automatic that I bought new at west end Chrysler in Toronto, Ontario.

Re: Challenger T/A - 02/12/12 08:11 PM

WHat prompted to restore the car was the re-introduction of the new Challenger. I bought one in 2009, modified into T/A style. Well, that wasn't quite good enough and I got the "bug" to do what I had talked about for the past twenty-five years. Rebuild my original. Car will be completed in two weeks.

It looks great although the six pak decal appears to be pointing in the wrong direction.

Sure am: Can't say I know anyone who's owned one from day one and kept it to this day. Epic to me, that's for sure.

Was going to ask you if you like it better after a full restoration, or when it was a brand new car?

Any good "back in the day" stories?

You can PM me if you don't want to post your answers.

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/05/12 03:25 AM

Original paint survivor T/A below, with the 340 sixpak call outs installed on the 'wrong' sides. It did happen, at least once in a while.

If the car came that way I would leave them as is myself.

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/05/12 11:27 AM

Thanks Barry. Unfortunatly, the "call outs" have been put on the wrong side. My rebuilder and I had quite the laugh over this last night whan I realized it. I've owned the car since new and never noticed it until someone from this website pointed it out. Anyway, new one on the way today. If this is the only mistake in my restoration, I've done well!

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/05/12 04:03 PM

It happens more than you think and luckily an easy fix. It's a spectacular car and very cool that you've owned it since new!

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/05/12 10:43 PM

LOL! I just can't believe that i didn't notice. Anyway, we had a good laugh about it. I'd like to think that maybe I would have caught it later, but not sure. And I've had this since new! Tunnel vision!
Thanks anyway.

I wouldn't. Everywhere you went people would be commenting on your $50K restoration and how they made such an obvious mistake. It just look wrong IMHO. BTW, I still have an original NOS set of callouts with the Chrysler part number on the back which tells you for sure that there is one for one side and one for the other.

At least it is an easy fix.

Nice car!

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/07/12 03:08 PM

Nice job on the car. As far as the call-outs, I'd leave them.
Reminds me of the hood decals on the A12 Super Bees, some
are one way some another. Most claim to be original or as original.

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/07/12 04:29 PM

I agree with Jeff968. Unless you had pics of the original car showing the callouts being wrong then I'd correct it. It's a common restoration error, like the Roadrunner dust trail stripes being put on upside down.

Re: Challenger T/A - 04/07/12 08:05 PM

No, they were put on in error. Originally, prior to restoration, the call outs when on properly. New ones on the way.
