HEMI BLOCK CASTING DATES???? - 10/14/08 01:51 AM
Were any blocks produced for the 1967 model year?Or did they use '66 blocks untill the '68's were poured?

So when did the 67 models go into production?Would a 10/10/66 block still be in a 66 or 67??

All 67 Hemi cars would have a 66 cast block. As an interesting sidenote they only cast blocks 4 times in the whole year of 1969.

Anything date cast in 1965 or 1966, then depending on the build date of the car, 68 castings, which began around March 15 of 1968 as mentioned above in another post.

What's stamped on the distributor pad? Should be CH426 for a '67, nothing for a '68 (this is neglecting any other stamps like WT or assembly date).

No 1967 HEMI blocks were cast. I've been keeping a scorecard on casting dates for 20 years now. The latest 66 block is 10-31-66 and then they were not cast again until 4-15-68. So unless you own one of the very last 68 hemi cars it's going to have a 66 block in it. All 67 Hemi cars would have a 66 cast block. As an interesting sidenote they only cast blocks 4 times in the whole year of 1969.
5-18-69
5-26-69
7-28-69
8-18-69

I've got a 66 block, 10-31-66 cast date, w/ only WT on the distributor boss pad. Does that mean it goes to a 68 car? Are there any other #'s I should look for to verify this. Not trying to hijack this thread, but this info may help answer sixpacbee's question.

A service block has nothing stamped there. Don't know about short blocks that had already been partially assembled.
