Dash Paint from Instrument Specialties

So I ordered some of the original e-body dash paint from Instrument Specialties and sprayed a quick test panel of the black paint on a steel sheet. When I set it next to a test panel of organasol from Frank Badelson, it looks EXACTLY the same. In fact, when I mix up the two panels, there's no one here that can tell the difference. Is the dash paint supposed to be the exact same texture as organasol?

Hi, This is Mike from Instrument Specialties. The DDl9355 Organisol is definately a different product than the 9324 Jewell black suede finish interior paint.

If the texture is too rough, that indicates the product was applied dry and the texture additive is actually standing on end.

What mix ratio did you use and what specific reducers were used?

I have sprayed this paint many times and have never had it come out like Organisol.

Mike, thanks for responding. I felt I was laying it down quite wet. I reduced it 1:1.5 with DTL876 thinner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I shoot mine yesterday 1 part DDL to 1.5 parts DTL16 and it came out great. The texture is not near as rough as the organisol.

When I ordered the black, I also ordered red and blue (6 cudas to be done). I shot some of the blue exactly as I shot the black and I got the expected result. I'm wondering if it's possible that the black I received is actually something other than the dash paint it's supposed to be?
