E Body Lower Dash Bezel Restoration

What are you using to restore the Radio and Heater bezels with the correct texture. I thought it was the valve cover wrinkle paint but that says to only use on metal.I have a few ideas but could use some comments.

Though it says to use on metal, crinkle paint is what I used.

Yes, it works on plastic. I used VHT brand but there are quite a few others. It did take a long time to dry though. I just let it sit for a couple weeks before trying to redo the letters.

I think Joe said he used a Krylon product. VHT was the only brand I could find locally.

Guess I'm the oddball. I used Duplicolor spray on truck bed coating. It comes out of the can hard and fast, but a few swift coats and it turned out really good. Nice uniform texture. I never could get the wrinkle finish type paints to come out quite right.

I used the wrinkle finish paint as well. Works fine on plastic too. If you use heat to bring out the texture, be careful, as the plastic pieces will warp very easily.

I was informed by a guy at Performance Car Graphics about a paint. Partial quote...

"Our experience over many years with black crinkle:
-Krylon is thick, inappropriate, and unattractive
-Eastwood is mediocre or good or fair for appearance and originality. Very sensitive to thickness of costs, lapse time between coats, temperature, brightness of sunlight
-Plastikote is most reliable for all of the above factors, but you must practice first. Even-nes of coats, thickness of coats, and temperature are critical. Plastikote 217 Black."

I haven't tried it myself, so I would like to hear experiences.

I have the eastwood stuff i will post pics after i try it. Any tips on detailing the letters and what paint do you use for them. Also any good tips for painting the letters I have used a mini roller wrap it with masking tape and carefully roll on paint. very small roller (homemade)

I just used a paint pen with a medium sized tip. I had to go over the letters twice. After the first pass, they still looked dirty. After the second pass(after the first coat had dried) they look nice and crisp. I didn't have any issues with seeing pen strokes in the paint.

I used the same (Duplicolor)on the plastics... On the letters I used a new pencil eraser as a rubber stamp (nice and easy, takes a few coats) with Testors white paint.
