Just a thought... Why not run the numbers by Barry and see if someone is looking for that motor/block?...

A 340 makes an awesome 418 stroker & that's what I'd do...

Being that its a small block car, a 340 or 360 stroker is the way to go. There's a few good stroker kits on the market. Light weight, good handling & plenty of torque & hp. I'm sure some members w/ small block strokers will chime in & give you some good build advice.

YOU HAVE THE CAR! Don't mess up the engine. Just a pile of parts with the correct VIN and engine is worth a lot.

I'd suggest finding a 360 block and building a 408 stroker for your Dart. It'll be cheaper in the long run and if something should happen to the block it's just a garden-variety 360. Your 340 TA block is a special block. It's not just another 340 block. It was the only block that came in a real car, that had provisions for four-bolt main caps. It's not the same block you would find in a Swinger 340, for example.

A few months ago I saw a Hemi GTX that a guy found while trying to buy a Hemi. As he looked at the car he realized what a complete car it was, a loaded Hemi 4-speed GTX with numbers-matching engine, etc. He ended up buying the car and totally rebuilt it. Nearly every piece of sheetmetal was replaced in the restoration process. Now this formerly rusty junker has had offers of over $300,000. If it had a replacement engine it'd be worth much less.

So don't mess up that TA block! Or anything else about it.

I missed the part where you had the car too! Maybe you can get one of the new Challenger bodies from Dynacore or whoever that is and build a clone using the original engine. Or sell the engine to another TA or AAR owner that is missing the original engine?

i bought the car from a man who worked at the chrysler dealership in new orleans the story he told me was the car was totaled in a test drive and he bought it after that and it set in a pecan orchid until i bought it in 99. the only part of the car that was not rusted down was the fiberglass hood. i dont have any pictures of it and it has been in the back part of my shop since then and its gonna be a big under taken since i have pilled junk and totes of parts all around it and you cant even see the car anymore. i will try to take on the task of cleaning up to get to it to try and get some photos.
