Prepping metal & fiberglass for paint. Same? - 11/01/11 04:26 AM

My race car has a glass nose and metal body. Mostly primer with some original paint showing through on metal, nose is glass with no primer/paint. Looking to complete my first/cheap paint job (Summit brand paint). How do I prep/primer the car to block and paint?

I always tell my clients to treat the fiberglass as if it steel. In other words sand and paint the fiberglass with the same products as you are using on the steel body.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

I'll hit the entire car with epoxy primer followed by 2K then seal and base/clear.

prime and block sand with 180, prime and block with water sanding again with 320.
(add a little dish soap to you water to help keep paper from clogging as bad and keep the work area wet) spend the extra time and elbow grease on the blocking before sealing and u will b pleased with ur work
