Another Dart tire size question

Another Dart tire size question - 10/06/08 12:38 AM

Does anyone know if a 275-60-15 on an 8" rim will fit on the rear of a 70 Dart provided a wheel with the right backspacing is used in conjunction with a 3/4" spring relocation kit?

That's a hard question to answer without knowing the height of the rear of the car. I have 245-45-17s on my 67 Dart with the offset shackles on a 7" wide wheel, and there is plenty of room for the tire between the wheel lip and the spring. A 275 would fit with the correct offset wheel.

Now, your tire is about 2.3 inches taller than my tire, which means it would go 1.15 inches further up in the wheelwell than mine. Contact could possibly occur up there, but I wouldn't know. Probably not with a set of super stock springs, but we have no idea where the rear of your car rides.

I have 245/60/15's on 15x7 small bolt custom rallyes with 4.25 backspacing. They just barely rub the inside leaf and outside lip. Leaf bushing are worn. No offest shakles. My rear springs are shot and the car sets low in the rear.

BUT using the wheel rim calculator here and comparing 245/60/15 to 245/45/17's: http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp my overall rear tire diameter is 1" greater than the red 67 vert. In the pictures is looks like the both our cars have the top of the rims at the same level as the top of the rear fender lip. The calculator says the top of the rims are about the same. 17" rim plus 4.3 section height compared to 15" with 5.8" section height.

I think damnimcooltom's picture is taken at a lower angle making the car look higher up. ???

I don't think your going for fit 275's unless the rear is raised up some than stock and/or you roll the fender lip.
