Z Bar disconected

As I'm trying to solve my overheating problem. I took the car out today and the Z bar fell off the connector attached to the body. Have not had a chance to get under and look at it. But what could cause this. Is there a clip to hold it in place. I just went to shift into 3rd gear and the pedal stayed on the floor. Looked under the hood and the Z bar had fallen off the the mount on the body. What should I be looking for to have caused this problem......Thanks for you're help

The retainer wire most likely broke or fell off. It holds the z-bar to the pivot ball on the frame.
