I need to re-key the ignition switch in a 1966 satellite, there is a pin that holds the lock cylinder into the switch housing. How do i get the pin to retract so i can slide out the cylinder?

Put the key in the cylinder.
Rotate the key/cylinder to ON. The pin should depress. Try other positions to see which allows the pin to be pushed.
Pull the key/cylinder out of the switch.

Of course, most of the time you are replacing the cylinder due to missing key or damaged key or cylinder.
In this case, you can try drilling it out, but it's often a better idea to replace that old worn switch too and just toss the whole mess out.

Of course, that's why I typed the second part.

Rock auto has the starter switch for under 18 bucks and a new lock cylinder for under 18 bucks too.
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # US50 switch
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # US12L cylinder
If you have a new lock and a new switch, you are ready to install.
