Question on 70 Cuda Fender Tag

Question on 70 Cuda Fender Tag - 09/07/11 05:11 PM

Not being an E Body guy I have a couple questions concerning a fender
tag.

70 Cuda LA built car
The car has a vinyle top

Why is the code for the top on the tag 2 times?

Did the Cuda with a standard sport hood always get J54 on the tag?

Thanks
Matt

Why is the code for the top on the tag 2 times? It's one of those things. Just a plant coding quirk. You see things like that on other years/plants.

No.

Do you know why some did and some did not?

Thanks

At the beginning of the '70 model year, there was NOT a J54 - "sport hood" OPTION on the Barracuda (BH) or the Gran Coupe (BP).

Once the OPTION was released for BH & BP, the code starts to show up on the fender tags for 'Cuda (BS) models also.
(I'm NOT sure the use of the code was CONSISTANT after that point at either plant "B" or "E")

The multiple use of codes in conjunction with SHAKER (N96) & AAR (N94) hoods only complicates the question & use/non-use of the code.
