Okay I think I figured it out.
The last header stud on #8 cylinder (back towards fierwall) must go into a water jacket.
I need to get some thread sealer...

all the exhaust header/manifold bolt holes are wet. i use studs with arp thread sealer whether i use manifolds or headers.

The OE type studs w the unthreaded shoulder in the middle seal the best (w sealer as mentioned) & you mentioned headers & you can trim the outer fine thread portion so there's only enough threads left 4 a thin high grade nut 2 fit flush which greatly helps fitment
