fan shroud kung foo

Hi,

I'm looking for ideas on using a modern fan shroud with electric fans on my 26"x17.5" BB radiator. I know most modern cars come with an electric fan (or two) and I know people have done what I'm trying to do. What I need are specific examples of a particular fan/shroud combination that fits a B body with a 26" radiator. So like, if you know a fan shroud combination from a 2003 Dodge Minivan worked for you, that's what I want to know. Once I know what types fans/shrouds are in the ball park, I can hit the local junk yards looking for a suitable setup.

P.S. I realize I can buy a new aluminum shroud with fans from Jegs or Mancini. I'm trying to save a few bucks and see if I can find a cheap alternative.

One of the members is working on a variable speed fan controller specifically for these fans. Due to their design you can't use the normal controllers.

That's what I'm talking about. That's great information. Thanks! I'm running a modern GM style alternator that really cranks so I'm pretty sure it can handle that fan.
