Hood and trunk release & latch

Should these be painted or are they natural?

1968 Plymouth Barracuda.

latches are plated

typically,
trunk latch is clear zinc
hood latch is cross between black and a real dark reddish brown color

Thanks, do the mechanisms match the latches?

My '68 just got painted black, and I want the engine bay and trunk to look as correct as possible.

I painted my 70 Dart latch the body color too.
