Best aluminum radiator for Duster - 07/22/11 05:02 PM

It's time to put a new radiator in my 74 Duster and perhaps an electric fan. Even with "water wetter" it's pushing 200 a lot of the time using a stock radiator and clutch fan. I was wondering if anyone has used an aluminum radiator that fit nicely, either a drop in or with limited modifications necessary. Any brand preferences, 2 or 3 row, etc.?

Basic Summit Ford style was what I dropped into mine for under $200.

That's probably the same one I bought years ago - excellent unit. I made some easy mounts and installed it. Keep in mind - it comes with no pepcock or trans cooler provisions. I bought a weld-on bung and such but never bothered to use it, the unit has vertical side tanks so I just insert a tube and make a siphon to drain the system. Much cleaner that way anyway. For trans cooling, I installed a unit in the front of the passenger's side fender.

Its a great unit for the price though - I'd have installed a trans cooler anyway so no biggie.

If you go this route and really want a drain, I'll try to find the bung and pepcock and send it to you.
