One question about pinion angle.

Transmission is 3 degrees down. Rear yoke is 0 degrees. I need to go 5 degrees down on the rear yoke? No room to raise tranny up.

Found this in the Tech Archives.

Your current pinion angle is -3 degrees. Why do you want to change it?

Thanks, but that is confusing.

so is reversing the angle from -3 to +2 degrees

I get a vibration, but only when I'm at about 60 mph or faster. It gets worse if I'm going down a hill at 60 mph and I pick up speed, then let off the throttle a bit to keep from picking up too much speed. Otherwise, not accelerating nor decelerating.

It's ok with 3 degrees down on the tranny yoke and 0 degrees at the rear yoke?

ever had your drive shaft balanced?

Too much positive pinion angle will cause a vibration on acceleration. Too much negative pinion angle will cause a vibration on braking or deceleration.

If your transmission slopes downward 3 degrees toward the rear and your pinion centerline is level, you have a -3 degree pinion angle. I don't usually like to see more than -3 for a street car.

It's a new drive line. Maybe I should take it back to them and have it rechecked.

I'm gonna find an expert and have them take care of this. It's confusing.

You can easily put shims between the axle and springs if you want to achieve a zero angle. I found some at an off road shop.

So theres no way to lift the tailshaft up any? I had mine at 0 & plenty of lift before it hit the floor, I like setting tailshaft at 0 & then drop the pinion 3* down for -3*, I had mine this way & no vibration that i could tell.

Is there any angle shims on leafs? If not, add 2degree down on rear that should fix your vibration under load. But make sure your driveshaft is balanced before anything.

I'm going to try it your way. Both balance check and shims. Trial and error on the shims. Not hard to had or subtract them.
