T/A Idle Solenoid - 06/22/11 02:59 AM

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if stock T/A's came with the electric Idle solenoid? The service manual I have indicates they were only on 340's with a 4 barrel. I bought the car about 2 years ago and am just getting time to really spend some time on it. It ran "ok" last year but now I'm having trouble geting it to Idle.

Any help is greatly apprciated!
Thanks,

yes They did.
I just have mine there for show purposes. I found it easier with out it being hooked up.

T/A's came with the solenoid.. It attaches with a bracket that picks up two carb base bolts... It won't improve your idle, it was used to allow a higher idle RPM & have the engine shut off properly when the key is switched off...

The service manuals were also printed at the start of the model year, so the mid-year T/A specific stuff does not appear in the 1970 manual.

You can find some technical information on them at http://www.challengertaregistry.com/documentation.html
