brake pedal wont pump up???? - 06/19/11 07:49 AM

its not just soggy i can shove the pedal to the floor with my hand
iv swaped the rear over to disc brakes, and added a alum master cyl from a 85 cordova
when pedal is held to the floor i cam crack a bleeder screw and nothen but a clean stream of brake fluid no air will shoot6-10 inches out the end of the bleeder
have bled the mc before hooking lines up to it
i have plenty of fluid coming out of both bleederd when crack one of them open and no leaks what the heck???

Sounds like you gotta leak, internal or external, master cylinder might be bleeding down internally.

At your parts house in the "Edelman" brass fittings cabinet get a pair of inverted flare straight thread plugs to cap the M/C ports. On the end they will have a recessed flare a mirror image of the brass seat(s)in the M/C. Cap the M/C & if it's good (& bled out) the pedal w b rock hard w virtually no travel. (1)Jump on the pedal hard and (2) put steady light pressure on it, these 2 tests will tell you if it is the prob or look further downstream. Or if not wanting to grab some fittings rebleed the M/C as it sounds like it's bad or there's air in it

which rear kit?

the gm caliper one tsm or tms whatever, cannot be bled on the car. you have to pull the caliper and tilt it to get them to bleed right.

the caliper is a metric for a s10 but the bleeder screw is at the very top
would of thought by now the mc would of pushed the air to the lines as iv went threw a full bottle of fluid
its got a slight pedal but i can still shove to floor with my hand
i also removed the power brake booster to make room for the hemi

dont know if this is one of these cases but I'd heard of some calipers needing to b tilted & the hole at the top of the bore needs 2 b at 12 o'clock where the bottom of the angled passage meets it as opposed to just the bleeder screw being at 12 o'clock at the top of the passage.

well got to notice that the colar that goes around the line on the caliper is hitting the sway bar mount on the leaf spring so i get to pull it off and clearance it
