What RB/Hemi main bearings to use?

What RB/Hemi main bearings to use? - 06/17/11 02:23 AM

Putting a street Hemi together. 4.15 stroker, iron heads, 9.5 to 1 CR (approx), fairly mild cam...just for a cruiser maybe the occasional drag strip pass....

I have some Clevite MS 1795M bearings; micro babbitt. I know they are softer but how long will they survive in a <650 HP engine?

Should I just get some 119Ms and move on or will these work?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that particular part number? But I think that is a babbit alcohol/fueler bearing.

If so I wouldn't use it - it is designed for large clearances and a thick oil cushion, babbit will wear faster - a friend ran some in his street motor years ago and within 2K miles his oil pressure was dropping.

I don't know if there are different grades of babbit material but I know he ran a set of fueler bearings in his.. he got such a good deal on them.

I just went thru this for a street hemi myself, I went with the 877P as it is a hyd cam motor.

1/2 groove, full narrow groove, 3/4 groove, wide groove they all have there merits.. I went with simple and proven

I just verified some info on my post - the bearings my friend used WERE specific to fuel and alcohol motors -they were babbit BUT the part number was NOT the same number you posted.

Sorry for the confusion on my part.

Thanks for going to the trouble to verify!!

I was looking at 440Source and saw the MS 1795V bearing. Looks more like what I need. Half groove and made for high performance. I think it's what they use in their kits.
