Where have you guys sourced your power for the electric choke? I'm new with having an electric choke and can certainly come up with a bunch of "it'll work" ideas...but what's *the best* route generally?

The blue (ign1) wire that runs along the inner side of the pass valve cover to the alt field. T into it right there at the choke. You may need to run it thru a resistor in series first such as the white OE choke resistor piece if it comes off 2 quick but this'll get you started

We usually connect the electric choke lead to the 12V input of the ballast resistor..

Just my $0.02...

I do that also...some "professionals" don't agree with it but I never had any problems on several cars over 4 decades.

thats the source factory TOOK to source it!, but being an splice from the wire feeding the second alt field on dual field alts, which is the same net, than the one what feeds the ballast.
