2000 durango A/C not workie help - 06/07/11 01:01 AM

Compressor runs all the time, shows 45 lbs on the gauge. I let pressure out down to 25 or so, compressor never kicked off and when I went to put some juice in it it went form 25ish to 45 in like 2 seconds. And still not cooling anybody have any ideas?

Is the line coming out of the evaporator in the pass compartment cool? If it is you might have a broken/stuck air door or actuator in the heater box with no air flow over the evaporator. Another possibility is the temp sensor in the evaporator core isn't cycling the compressor and the core is iced up. If this is the case the AC would work for a while after start up and then sort of fade out with the compressor running all the time. Both of these could be combined to make your problem.

If the return line from the evaporator is warm, I don't know what's going on.

So what's the HIGH side reading?

The low side's only half the picture.

It could as simple [yet expensive] as the compressor gone away. Or a litany of other possibilities.

Had the same issue on my Dakota. The orifice tube was plugged.

Ok time to revisit the A/C subject.

The high and low side read 10lbs no matter if the A/C is off or on. Compressor I am assuming?
