tallest tire for a 15 inch rim - 05/25/11 02:10 AM

Hey guys

I'm looking to find a taller tire for when I do some highway cruising. (3:91 gears) I'm just wondering who makes the tallest tire for a 15 inch rim and recommendations.

Thanks folks

Mike

I believe my BF Goodrich's are 28" which at the time I bought them (several years ago) was the tallest 60 series tire I could find.

I have 33" tall x 21.50" wide x 15" tires on my 34 Dodge.

Probably the tallest commercially available car tire will be either the 235/75r15 or the 255/70r15.
In a more of a truck tread you can find the 265/70r15 and 265/75r15 as well.

My brother use to have a set of 44" hawgs on 15s.

I was in Summit last Sunday and I saw a set that I want to say were 31s, in a radial ET type tread. You may want to look at their website.

I have 285/70R15s on the back of my '63, and they're 31" tall. Radial T/As. Makes the 3.55s in the car act like highway gearing.

Just curious, what wheel width are we talking here???

Some tire sizes mentioned here won't work on a 7" or narrower.

In my case (the '63 above), 15 x 8 wheels. And that's as much tire as the rear wheelhousings would allow; had to narrow the rearend.
