ticking noise...anything really... piston knock till they warm up and tighten up on their specs, which is why we let them fully warm up before beating on them.
could be an exhaust leak that developed, as headers are notorious for burning out gaskets nad ticking/leaking
could just be the sound of the cam. my hydraulic cam worried me at first too, being that it's my first performance build...sounds like a darn sewing machine tapping away.
pull the valve covers, check that you didn't have an adjustable rocker back off, I've had that happen to me too, even with a hydraulic cam, that'll make a tick. then check your header bolts to make sure there's no leaks. start it up and hold your hand around the headers before they get hot to feel for exhaust puffing past the gasket...if all checks well, then it's probably just normal...let it fully warm up before beating on it.
