Ford BB FI on a 440 Mopar

Ford BB FI on a 440 Mopar - 05/09/11 03:35 AM

I have been working with both a 440 Mopar and a 1988 FI 460 ford for many years on the Mopar and 2 years on the ford.
I think I have the Ford nailed so far as making it go goes.
I believe I could easily adapt the Ford FI using all junkyard parts to work on the 440 using stock 440 man, drilled for injectors' with the ford fi horn on top. That's about all the 460 man is.
The early Ford FI is very forgiving and will run without EGR or O2 sensors to get you going in a pinch.
The real question is would stock MPI FI be worth the effort.
The attractive part to me would be that using all used parts it would be far cheaper than a new Holley 750 and none of the carb issues.
Anyone done a conversion of this type that is workable?

I've never done it, but I have thought about it. I figured FI from a 454 would work well, too.

It should be pretty similar to this, I would think.

Only real issues are making the distributor work (rotor spins opposite directions I believe), and all the other minor details. If you choose a donor engine of the same displacement, I'd think you could almost get away with not needing to customize the ECU.

The first problem I can think of is the dist, the Ford uses a hall effect switch(0-5v square wave), so the ecu won't work with the Chrysler sine wave signal. The GM efi is the same signal as the OE Mopar.
