What's the stock or largest tires and backspacing I can run on the front and rear of a 68 Dodge Dart without any rubbing or modifications to the wheel well? Thank you!

Come on, MuuMuu......You have been reading and posting long enough to know that you MUST include more info for anyone to be helpful! Stock axle and brakes? Front BBP disc conversion?

Ok there's a start. Is that front and back? Also what's your offset or backspacing?

Stock for stock Dusters can take more rear tire than a Dart.

This post on abodiesonly has a lot of tire and rim combos:

Thanks Dustergirl

I was looking at summit racing for some rims and I saw a couple I liked that were 17x7's with a 5.575 backspacing and if I decide to get them in the future, I don't want to have issues with rubbing and clearance. I was thinking about getting a Hotchkis TVS system later on and of course a Front and Rear disc brake conversion set (looking into Willwoods).

If necessary, couldn't I get wheel spacers just to move them over? Will they ad any extra stress to the car's frame, suspension, or axle?

No way will a 5.575 backspacing work. 4.5 is about the most you can go with everything in the stock location. Even then it will be close to the spring.

Okie Dokie. So then they are out of the picture. Thank you!

Agreed, I believe I was running 15x8 with 4.5 BS on my 70 Dart with stock leaf location 235/60/15 bfg drag radials. May have been 15x7's
On my Demon I am running 17x8 with 4 1/2 bs with a 245/45/17 tire.

Now do you have a 7 or 8 tire width in the front as well?

Fronts are 16" 215/55/16 and not sure on 7 or 8" but I know I don't have enough backspacing as I trimmed the front lower fender a bit(not a show car)

Re: A-Body Tire Size - 05/09/11 01:43 AM

Maybe I will go for some 15's with some good tires for some good grip. It seems like most guys have 15x6's in the front with 205/60/15's and 15x7 or 8's with 235/60/15's with an unmodified suspension. The only thing is I would like a great disc break setup to really stop the car. I think willwood does make breaks to fit 15's. I think they are like half the price of the 17's
