PPG Delstar paint for engine

What product is used to thin PPG Delstar paint?

was going to paint my engine with it using a disposable Preval sprayer. this method was said to work well here if the paint is thinned 30%.....just need to know how to prepare the paint to spray (i.e., what product(s) I will need in addition to the can of paint).

can't find the info on line or from the PPG website.

enamel reducer, I always add hardner to the paint, so it flows out.

I would not use it on a engine, too expensive and won't handle heat well.

You need Acrylic Enamel Reducer, not Enamel Reducer. I painted a 383, 15 years ago with Delstar without use of the hardner, and it still looks great. It is debateable whether or not to use a hardener. It is not required to make the paint cure. It does increase duarability and shine, and allow for polishing as on the exterior of a car. The finish with the hardner is really too shiny to look correct on an engine, and causes the paint to be somewhat brittle.

Used for years and have no problem. Holds gloss well if lyou use hardener. Just make sure your engine is clean, clean, clean, just as you would with any quality paint job.

Use the hardener and Delstar works fine on an engine.
