MP 528 solid cam with exhaust manifolds. - 05/03/11 07:02 AM

looking for a little advice on my 340 6 pack. I currently have a 9.5 to 1 340 with a comp magnum cam 280/480 230@.050 duration running 340 exhaust manifolds and a six pack with a 4 speed. The car runs ok but I want to increase the horsepower without stroking the shortblock since it is fresh. I am considering pulling heads and having milled to get compression to around 10 to 1, porting heads, intake and exhaust manifolds and going with a little bigger cam. I was leaning towards a .528 solid(mopar performance) because I read the from a fellow moparts member that it was the best cam with exhaust manifolds. I want to retain the manifolds because it is a show car. Has anyone else ran the .528 solid in a small block with exhaust manifolds with success? Would I have to worry about the manifolds glowing with such a cam?

I have a Bud going to run a 557 MP cam(RB engine) in his RoadToad with exh mans ....BUT WITH a UPgrade of the exh system from the mans back.

He is going to do some carbide burr and tootsie-roll work on the mans front-to-rear to open-em-up.

Talk to AndyF.He has done many BB motors with manifolds and this cam with impressive results.I would imagine the characteristics would be the same in the SB.
