'69 Coronet trunk rubber bumper

'69 Coronet trunk rubber bumper - 05/02/11 05:05 AM

Hey Guys!

I'm attempting to install the rubber bumpers in the trunk of my '69 Super Bee, but the hole in the trunk is quite a bit larger than the stem of the bumper.

Do these rubber bumper maybe glue in instead of just snapping in? Any tips for getting things to fit better?

You sure your bumpers are correct? The holes are supposed to be about 1/4"..

Hmmm... hole measures about 3/8", just slightly larger than the largest part of the bumper's stem. The regular part of the stem is 1/4" which would make sense for the 1/4" hole you mentioned.

Here is a pic, perhaps somebody enlarged it at some point.

Yeah as I was posting I was thinking 1/4" maybe 5/16" but 3/8" I'd say unfortunately someone has drilled them... I'll measure mine tomorrow...

Thanks, Id appreciate it very much if if you would measure the hole!

I stripped the car down before taking it to the body shop, and I cant remember if I removed the bumpers... they could have been removed and drilled out (for whatever reason) a long time ago and I never noticed... or my body guy could have done it for some reason too I guess.

Are the 68 models the same, what do the bumpers look like that get installed in the trunk lid? I ended up with a 70 B-body bumper kit, but I have a 68 Coronet, wondering if I have the right bumpers with that kit or if I have to buy another pair. Thanks guys.

OK, and they go into the lid on the back outside corners, right? I don't have anything that tall in the kit I got, I guess I have to buy a couple more.
