Anyone out there able to educate me on the mopar 230 flathead six. What adapters are out there for what kinds of transmissions. I'm looking at a streetrod project and want this engine with a modern trans. Thanks guys

I have one in my c-series 3/4 ton dodge pickup. I think wilcap might sell bells for it? With some time and a ruler almost anything can work I think.
Maybe try one of the weaker 5 speeds out of a mustang? Whatsitcalled- a RAPP or something? That might be cheap and light and run the gears real nice for a light car around 100hp 200tq.
Are you going to hotrod the motor? Headers, intake, carbs, milled or aluminum head? It might be best to go with a numerically low rear gear and a light car so that you can take advantage of the low rpm redline and torquey powerband with a 5 speed's low 1st for taking off.

probably just a header and dual carbs...otherwise stock and dont need to be as fast as can be but want it cause of patina and easy on fuel hoping to be in the 1800 pound range running down the road wieght

Mine is stock with the three speed manual (on the tree). It has 4.10 gears (2 wheel drive). It takes a load pretty well but tops out below freeway speed. The tires are a little taller than stock but not crazy. If you want cheap a rear in the 2.9:1 range would work awesome with an OD833 out of a /6 truck- 3.09 first gear and .71 overdrive is quite a spread. Once again the light weight would be crucial to not lug it down too far on shifts.

Good luck it's an awesome motor. The scariest part about my truck is it runs perfect and always starts right up! I guess they don't make em like they used to.
