Torque specs for lug nuts with aluminum wheels ? - 04/22/11 10:26 PM

Just recently got my first set of "mag" wheels. I've always just run steelies or rallys.

What torque spec should I use for the lug nuts with these wheels ? They are large bolt pattern so have the larger 1/2" studs.

Most modern domestics with the 1/2 or 12x1.5 use 100lbs so I would do that. I also use that on my coronet.

The instructions that came with my American Racing wheels say 75-85 ft pounds for 1/2" bolts.

Years ago I got into the habit of selecting 78 in my torque wrench.
Never a problem

I step torque 85ft/lb, at least half of which is done with no weight on the wheel (lug eccentric wheels)
