Air Cleaner Question

I have a 8007 Weiand Intake on my small block and I am wondering if switching to a flate base air cleaner with a height of 2 inches would work with a 9811 TQ that requires a 1/2 inch gasket? I have a 1406 Edelbrock now and want to give the TQ a try but, I have 14 inch drop base air cleaner and a little over 3 inch K&N on there now. I'm just trying to clear away from the vent tubes on the TQ.

Can't use a 3" air filter, the 2" flows less air ? What about a taller filter in the drop base ?
