Holley L-8006 carb? What is it? - 04/15/11 01:49 PM

Came across a Holley carb for sale. The list number is L-8006. All a search revealed was 2 carbs on eBay showing 75-76 Plymouth, 318-440. It has an electric choke, and a bowl vent, in addition to some extra vacuum ports on the baseplate. Is this an emissions legal replacement for a TQ? I know its a 600cfm vacuum secondary carbs, but has anyone heard of that list number? I want to get something to replace the 1406 on my Fury, and as much as I want to run a Thermoquad, I don't want to run an adapter plate (dual plane M1).

i have an 8004 that came off of an olds motor in a motorhome. its a 4160 600 cfm. a quick google search of 8006 says its a 4160/600 cfm. it will be a square bore. i rebuilt it over the winter and put it on a 318 yesterday. does it have the same vacume ports as this?(i know its a little far away)

It looks to have the same vacuum ports as far as I can tell in the pic. Are they good carbs? Just a regular 1850 more or less?

they are just a factory 4 bbl. not really made for performance(i am looking for better mileage with this carb) the secondary side will have a metering plate insted of jets. i put on a conversion plate to be able to use jets for better tuning. i would say they are good carbs. you can get a rebuild kit for about $25 from summit if you plan to rebuild it. just a basic 4160 carb.

That's good to know. I'm shooting for more mileage too, with a carb swap and the addition of an A518 trans.
