Pedals were painted black....most of the bracketry was natural metal finish. I recently restored mine with black and "steel color" paint.

I used Rust Oleum Professional High Performance Enamel - Stainless Steel #7519 $5 at Menards.
There are all kinds of stainless and steel colors out there.
