383 big block block and rotating assembly..

thats the same stroker job than a 400 being 451

yup, IF it's the 440 length stroke, it's the same set-up that turns a 400 into a 451

or, in that 383 it's a 426 at stock bore, 432 at .030 and 438 at .060.

if the block can take it, it's a 440 in 383 skin if you bore it to .070 over. but you can't use 440 pistons, because they'd be too tall.


as to whether or not the set-up you're looking at is a stroker or stock crank, you'll have to measure how much the pistons travel in the bore. I don't know what cranks were available and by who, but surely someone is making new, stock stroke cranks for the 383s.

except using lates smoggers 440s, where the CH is is just .004 higher than KB240s for 400s and KB162s for 383 which BTW sits around 0.010-0.020 down the hole. Thats another piston resource for us, 400 owners, and cheap. Just need to take 0.020 more on the bore

Thanks for all the reply's. It comes with everything Eagle crank,Eagle H-beam rods,Pistons for the block but no sure what kind.

If this is a short block measure the piston travel from TDC to BDC for the stroke & only several common stroker dimentions so should be able to match a common one to what you get as close as you can w a 6" steel ruler

Its a short block but I still Have to put it together.Its new still in the box.I'am hoping it at least a 3.75 stroke. I haven't found anywhere that Eagle makes a 3.375 stroke crank..

lay the crank in it's side and make a magic marker mark @ 12 o'clock on a main journal and on an adjacent rod throw then measure the (offset) distance between the two. that's the "throw" distance and double that for the stroke ie an offset distance of 2&1/8 would b a 4.25" stroker
