Mini Starter install...starter shield ?..not heat - 03/25/11 03:59 AM

Installing motor and tranny next weekend(440/727) and don't know if I will need a started shield. I don't have one and need to know where to get one if I do...anyone??
If it matters I ordered a "NEW" starter for a '92 Dakota w/5.2

I wouldn't bother, myself and most other run em for years before any problems. they are cheap and easy to rebuild anyway.

I just wrapped mine in some of that heat reflective tape from the parts store. Actually seems to work pretty well

I guess I should clarify, I am not looking for a heat shield. I found this pic on 440 source.Do I need one of these?

You will be fine with out the shim. I run one on my Super Bee only because I still have the origonal. I don't run one either of my race cars.
