"Red Stripe" Gear Ratios

"Red Stripe" Gear Ratios - 03/20/11 11:08 PM

Maybe this topic was covered already, but I'll ask
out of curiousity.
Just trying to get my information "correct" on the A-833 4 speed w/ Red Stripe gear ratios. Was this an option on the Magnum engined B" and E"
bodied 4 speed cars? And why is it so significant?
I would like more info on this ratio, since I am not familiar or fluent with A-833, other than general rebuilds (syncro, bearings, etc.). Any input (facts and opinions) would be helpful for my personal knowledge and "archives". Thanks!!

Red stripe ratios were: 2.65, 1.64, 1.19, direct. They were available for 18 spline four speeds and were an over the counter item to the best of my knowledge. Not installed in production cars. Maybe in the 68 S/S cars I'm not sure.

The gear ratios for that transmission are in the archives, however I have no idea what the application was in which you could get that trans.

Thanks! Now, I won't have to scratch my head as much. Great info! I'll try to research further about the
applications this ratio was applied to. Appreciate all the input!!
