74 Duster 360 grille

74 Duster 360 grille - 03/19/11 02:50 PM

I was wondering if anyone has a pic or can tell me what grille my 74 360 Duster is supposed to have. I thought it was just the silver one, but when I was going to get one yesterday from a friend, he said the hp 360 Dusters had black grilles. Can anyone confirm this?

74 Duster 360's used the standard 73-74 duster grille.Alot of people paint(ed)them black for looks which is probably cause for the confusion.

Seth, thats what I thought too. My brother even has one that I am pretty sure is original, with a silver grille. I am questioning this because the guy I was gonna get a grille from is pretty knowledgeable about Mopars, he retired from Chrysler-Canada. He specifically said there were 360-2bbl and 360-4bbl cars. The 2bbl cars had silver grilles and the 4bbl cars had black grilles. I'm just looking for confirmation.

There were no '74 360 2bbl dusters period,nada,no.

This is the only grille used in 74 (w/ a nod to Sox & Martin on the blue tint).

I had a 74 Duster 360 that I bought used with 34000 miles on it in 76. It appeared to be all original, and the grille and headlight bezels were basically silver like the other 74 Dusters. A strange thing though, is that in 78 I had bent a headlight bezel. I went to a dealer for a new one. The parts man said it was a different part number for a 360 Duster than the other models. It was also considerably more expensive. He did not know what the difference was. I opted to just grab a used one at the salvage yard. So bottom line is, I never actually saw the difference in them.

Silver.

I never understood the "blacked out" grill things some folks do (unless the car is black then there is some merit)

I have a 15,000 mile original mile, original paint
'74 Duster360, and the grille is silver like all the rest.
