Shipping weight of a 727 Big Block trans? - 03/16/11 03:08 PM

Anyone know the weight of a 727B trans for shipping purposes 1967 vintage without converter and dry?

Shipping Co is trying to charge me for 290 lbs and the crate is only 32 lbs, I guestmate the trans to be 140-150 lbs, thats just my guess, trying to find real/actual weight.

I need amunition when I call them back!

Thanks

depends on what you ship it in, but if you just want the dry weight.. 126-131lbs based upon the type of internals.

Thats the problem, I already shipped it and the shipper wants to chage me for 290lbs!
The crate I shipped it in weighs 32 lbs, I guessed the trans was about 130 lbs, total weight I claimed was 162 on the shipment. The trucking Co is trying to squeeze for another $70.00.

Thanks DN, this is what I needed. My guess was pretty close, I came in at 130lbs.
