How would you restore brake dust shields? - 03/14/11 11:53 PM
After you blast and straighten my disc dust shields what's the best way to make them look new? Paint? Powder coat? What color? Thanks

They take a debris beating like everything else under there so yes I'd powder coat, not sure what color to dup the OE finish. You mentioned straightening them, are they not avail new or good used?

The OE finish appears to be galvanized...if they are steel. I have seen some factory aluminum ones...73 A bodies or thereabouts...

Once you get them straight, bead blast, epoxy primer, high build primer, sand, prime sand until smooth and shoot them with gloss black enamel. If they are really pitted- bead blast, skim with quality lightweight skim, sand, prime, sand till nice and smooth and shoot with gloss black
