flex plate

I spray painted one of the blades on my flex plate when I removed the motor pryor to having it rebuilt.I have the engine back,ready to install.The flex plate is mounted on the block.Only one problem,my paint mark is missing.any tricks to lining up the holes properly without having to remove the plate?

Some aftermarket converters have an "0" stamped by the offset lug. If not, you can measure the space between the 4 lugs with a string or small tape measure, then do some backwards thinking to get yourself matched up with flexplate. If you're using a stock flexplate, you can see which leg has the offset hole.

Take the flexplate off the back of the engine and line it up on the convertor. Paint mark the both of them (paint) and put it back on the motor!
