I.D. Cam - 03/14/11 07:30 PM

Have a cam I am trying to identify, its a purple shaft. The butt end shows a number stamped 446650, near the gear drive for oil pump shaft it shows 1103 in the casting. Any idea what this is?
Thanks.

easy way is measure the lobe then the base and subtract then multiply the lobe lift x 1.5 gives the lift-- Then you know what it is they are different enought that if you measure right you'll get 509, 484, etc and be able to tell usually

Copied this from my previous post with same question. Look up purpleshaft cam id here.

Thanks, in fact a friend took it with him and did that this morning and came out very close to 484.

He's going to put it in a 440 6bbl, headers with 3.91 gear, rest is stock.

We were discussing if there is any advantage to advancing this cam 2-4 degrees? I don't think its going to be all that noticeable, any opinion?
