Accelerator Pump Squirter Spacers?

Accelerator Pump Squirter Spacers? - 03/14/11 04:48 PM

Has anyone worked with the carb squirters (Quick Fuel #5-12)that come with risers (or spacers [.054" thick]) under them? I am curious what the difference would be with adding the spacer under the squirter versus having the squirter mounted in the standard position. I would assume that it has something to do with the location of the fuel shot.

Thanks

No idea what you are talking about. #5-12 is a hollow accelerator pump nozzle screw. It is not a nozzle or a spacer.

It is a stainless hollow squirter screw that comes with two regular felt type gaskets and a .054" thick gasket/spacer (not shown in that picture). I have two if these in front of me and that is why I am asking the question. I have never heard of the spacers, so I am curious if anyone else on the board was using them.

I talked with QF about this and you can use one of the washers under the squirter (typical install), or you can use the spacer under the squirter to raise the squirter.
I added a picture of both kits. The washer beside the screw is the one in question. Sorry for the focus, it was taken with my phone.

Thanks for the response.

EDIT:
Note:
I like the allen head design and with a 5/32 ball end allen wrench, the screw "snapped" into the end of the screw. This allows a one hand install.

Maybe it's used with a different booster. Extra tall or possibly annular. I take it they didn't explain applications when you talked to QF.

Their explanation was very general and not towards any one carb style. He just said that they add it to the kit just in the case someone needed to move the position of the "squirt or stream" closer to the center. That makes sense but I was just wondering how affective it was.

I was just needing the hollow screw, but when the spacer comes with the hollow screw, it brought up the question.
Note: The material is the same as the thinner gaskets, so it is a gasket and a spacer too.

Thanks again.

All you can do is try it & see.
