360 Stroker motor - 03/06/11 05:20 AM

I am looking to put a stroker motor together using a 74 360 block that is currently bored 15 over. I also acquired a set of freshened up 340 X heads. Any suggestions as to what combination to use to get to a 408? I was considering using a 750 Edelbrock Carb and Edelbrock Performer Air Gap Intake. What would be a good cam and piston combination?

I also have an (in progress)a '74 360 that's 20 over w some Badger B290 pistons (iirc 1.536"CH) & prob a cheap Eagle 4" crank and I have some .050" under rod bearings so I am going to destroke it some and rebuild the rod big end w the intent of shortening the C to C plus mill the piston deck to get back to zero deck & cut some notches maybe a partial dish more for CR reduction than VP clearance. More for a torque mtr for a daily driver '65 dart. QUENCH for sure maybe .035" max. Kind of an oddball deal but it's my baby & what I have & I ain't getting no respect (from fellow drivers) w the current tired 318 plus the carb from Hell (Eddy 1406) cant pass a gas stn

Our scat stroker kit would make 408cid if you bore the block .030.
I recommend the eddy 800 carb, much better fuel curve for a performance engine.
I would use the Comp 285HL cam, set the piston about.015 in the hole, chambers at 67cc would net around 9.5:1 compression.
Should make over 400HP unless the heads aren't up to it...
